Round Silo

Design

The round silo is the most stable form of a storage vessel and does not require any internal cross-bracing, even for large volumes. Such disruptive internals would obstruct the continuous mass flow and promote unwanted product residues. However, when placing several raw material silos next to each other, the rectangular footprint cannot be maximally utilized as storage volume. Round silos are usually equipped with a conical discharge hopper; since the entire silo is thus absolutely free of sharp corners, an ideal discharge behavior is achieved. The remaining product residues always remain minimal with an appropriate surface treatment.
